Located in beautiful SW Washington state just South of Mt. St. Helens in Amboy, WA, USA (20-25 miles North of Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR.) we have been raising sheep for about 12 years and Dorpers since 2003.
Our goal - to raise quality breeding stock. To help ensure the quality of our Dorpers, the Frost-King Dorper flock has been inspected by South African inspector, Raymond Read each of the past 3 years (2004-2006). These are "stud-quality" Dorpers. (Please refer to the Breed Standard for more information on "typing" at the ADSBS website here.)
Our flock has grown from purchases of stud quality fullblood and purebred Dorpers from Dubigk Sheep Station, Coppersmith Dorpers, Karoo Genetics, Broadmead Farm, Riverwood Farm and semen from Ram H Breeders Ltd. of Canada. Like all Dorpers breeders, we are challenged to produce good stud quality rams and believe that we will improve our success in that area with the input of type 5 ram semen from Ram H Breeders for our 2006 and 2007 breedings. We have found that superior stud quality rams are not easily acquired whereas semen is. 2007 will also see the introduction of scrapie resistance genetics into our flock.
